Inspired by the streamlined designs of Raymond Loewy, the Manhattan is dressed to impress in Navy and nickel.
Spectacular brass and stone inlay murals formed the entries of the Empire State building and other grand spaces of the 1930's. The Manhattan sets the stage as well with it's own metallic and marble "skyline" over a mohair davenport. Marble pedestals flank the richly paneled Cloud Club bar.
The Cloud Club Bar recalls it's exclusive namesake that thrived in the penthouse spire of the iconic 1929 Chrysler Building, favored by Captains of Industry. With a bar that features fold-down stools and locks into the wall for takeoff, innovation still takes center stage at SottoStudios. When we were hired by Jay Beever, Embraer Executive Jet's VP of interior design to help realize his vision for the ultimate charter experience, we were thrilled. He wanted to recall the luxury found on ocean liners of the thirties like the SS Normandie, the sophistication of "The Great Gatsby," and the attention to detail that could only come from the premiere art deco designers of that era. Inspired by the geometric french furnishings and carpets of Gustave Ruhlmann, the streamlined futurism of Norman Bel Geddes, and the composition of Jean Michel Frank, came an Art Deco experience that could only be called Manhattan. Here are some of the extensive inspirational and research imagery along with some rough concept sketches Edward Sotto generated to inform the design you see in these renderings.
SottoStudios is here to see to it your dreams can be interpreted to your taste, choice of aircraft, and budget. Embraer's Lineage 1000E is the perfect canvas for this ultimate party jet, and we thank them for the opportunity to design for them.
