Tokyo Disneyland, Tokyo Japan
While Executive Show Director for Tokyo Disneyland in 1999, the challenge was on the table for Eddie to create an attraction based on Winnie the Pooh, but for all ages. How do you make something intrinsically juvenile appeal to a wider audience? Make it magic. Sotto pitched making the attraction's ride system virtually trackless, where the vehicles could roam, go backwards and even spin. This new use of a breakthrough technology enabled the ride to be an instant hit with guests of all ages and is arguably the most successful attraction with Tokyo audiences long-term, driving merchandise sales to number one. A great tribute to Imagineering teamwork and the combined talents of so many. The Attraction Review below tells the story in pictures.
