We listen and "channel' our clients to make each interior a reflection of it's owner and do so in a way that has intellectual depth, rewarding you every time you experience it. We specialize in both the ideation, but will also bring world class artisans to realize any dream.
We design homes as a "Story", developing each space as a "Chapter".
This example, showcased in the book The California Casa, is a 1927 Spanish Colonial Revival hacienda, steeped in old Hollywood history. We wanted to recapture the feeling C.B. De Mille had when he visited 70 years ago. What you don't see in the book is the transformation of the family room into a "Club" from the French Riviera. Cool grays and deep blues accented by Indochinese bamboo caramel. No story should confine it's author, so the objects are familiar. We drew from the collection of mementos from the client's European travels so that story can continue to grow over time.
The dinette sets up the story, taking us to Cannes, as the tiny Oriental bath exhibits a collection of celebrities dining at the famed Brown Derby over vintage wall covering. The living room recalls the silent era via the client's collection of film posters, yet the Edison bulbs are vintage, burning since they were made in 1920!
Continuity and authenticity suspend disbelief, yet reassure the homeowner in an authentic atmosphere they long to dwell in. Fact plus fiction equals romance. Here's a few images of the work in progress.
When doing an residential or hospitality project, we begin with your story and then use the finest and most compelling materials to tell it, be a modern or thematic design. At times, nothing in a catalog exists to make that statement you are after, so we enlist our team of artisans to conjure it up. We usually start with image slides that help you visualize, then hone in on the design with material suggestions and finally a tight package that both is within budget and fulfills the dream. Here are some selected examples below.
